Studio One offers flexible export via Song → Export Stems (version-dependent) and standard Mixdown tools. Group tracks on buses for fewer, cleaner stem files.

Before export

  • Organize tracks into folders/buses (Drums, Bass, Vocals)
  • Set song start/end markers for full length
  • Note tempo and key
  • Avoid master bus limiting on stem exports

Method 1: Export Stems (Studio One 5+)

  1. Song → Export Stems (or right-click export in browser)
  2. Select tracks or folders to include
  3. Range: Entire song
  4. Format: WAV, 24-bit, project rate
  5. Export

Verify all files share identical duration.

Method 2: Mixdown per bus

  1. Solo stem bus (e.g. Drums folder)
  2. Song → Export Mixdown
  3. WAV 24-bit, full timeline
  4. Repeat for each stem group

Method 3: Transform to audio files

  1. Select tracks
  2. Event → Bounce to New Track or transform in place
  3. Export resulting audio tracks

Useful to commit instruments before export.

Effects

Choose whether to include insert FX and send FX per export — document dry vs wet in upload notes.

Stereo mix for mastering

Export Mixdown of main mix with headroom — peaks around -6 dBFS.

How to prepare a track for mastering

Common Studio One mistakes

  • Export range only between locators by accident
  • Including master limiter on every stem
  • Forgetting muted tracks in stem list
